MovieTowne Guyana
Immersive lighting engineering for a cinema and entertainment environment designed around colour, movement and theatrical experience.
Engineering an experience, not simply lighting a space.
MovieTowne's expansion into Guyana called for an entertainment environment with a character of its own.
As the cinema group expanded into Guyana, Streamline Systems worked alongside the design team to translate the creative vision for MovieTowne's mythical, dragon-themed environment into a functioning lighting system.
The role went beyond installing fixtures. Streamline helped develop the lighting approach, specify the technology and engineer the control required to bring colour, movement and theatrical effects into the cinema environment. That work subsequently extended into the wider mall, where lighting was integrated into architectural features, public spaces and focal walls.

Lighting / Integration / Control
A mythical world. Brought to life with light.
MovieTowne's cinema lobby was conceived as an immersive fantasy environment. Streamline's challenge was to make the lighting feel like part of that world rather than something simply added to it.
Environment / 09
Turning a creative vision into an engineered environment.
Streamline director Michael Pereira worked closely with designer Roger Myers of Myers Design Services to develop the lighting approach for MovieTowne's Guyana cinema environment.
Dragons, vegetation, murals, architectural forms and saturated colour created a highly theatrical setting. The lighting system had to reinforce that visual language while remaining integrated into the space.
Light became part of the architecture.
Rather than treating the lobby as one lighting problem, Streamline engineered it in layers — building colour, focus, depth and movement into the environment as one connected experience.
Building the colour field.
Twenty-eight uplights established the saturated colour environment across the primary perimeter walls, creating the visual foundation onto which the other lighting layers could be added.
Visual / 01
The brand became part of the experience.
Streamline introduced two moving-head fixtures fitted with custom MovieTowne gobos, turning the cinema's identity into an active element within the lighting environment.
Rather than remaining fixed to a sign or screen, the projected MovieTowne identity could appear among the scenery or move across the lobby floor as part of programmed lighting scenes.
Children would follow the moving MovieTowne projection across the lobby, trying to catch it.

Wider Development
From cinema experience to mall-wide integration.
Streamline's involvement extended beyond the theatrical environment of the MovieTowne cinema and into the wider commercial development.
Working across the mall, the team incorporated architectural lighting into feature walls, coves and structural elements, using colour, movement and independent control to connect the wider environment back to the cinema experience.
What began as an immersive cinema brief became a much larger architectural lighting project.

Architectural Elements
One environment. Individually controlled.
Streamline engineered the lighting as a connected control system, allowing individual architectural elements to be addressed independently while still operating as one coordinated environment.
Architectural columns across the development could be individually addressed, giving operators control over colour and movement while synchronising the columns, feature walls, scenic lighting, coves and projected elements through the wider lighting environment.
